October 8, 2006 STEVEN B. EGGLESTON [#105111], 54, of Los Angeles Probation was revoked, the previous stay of suspension was lifted and he was actually suspended for three years and until he makes restitution and proves his rehabilitation. Credit will be given for a period of involuntary inactive enrollment that began July 9, 2006. The order took effect Oct. 8, 2006. Eggleston violated the terms of a 2005 disciplinary probation by failing to submit four quarterly reports, attend ethics school or client trust accounting school, or prove that he made restitution or did not possess client funds, securities or property or that he maintained such assets in a proper manner.The underlying discipline was imposed because Eggleston misappropriated more than $22,000 in client money.Eggleston did not participate in the probation revocation proceedings.March 26, 2005 STEVEN B. EGGLESTON [#105111], 53, of Los Angeles was suspended for three years, stayed, placed on five years of probation with an actual two-year suspension and was ordered to make restitution, prove his rehabilitation, take the MPRE and comply with rule 955. The order took effect March 26, 2005. Eggleston stipulated that he failed to deposit client funds in a client trust account or promptly pay out client funds and he committed an act of moral turpitude by misappropriating more than $22,000 in client funds.He settled a personal injury case for $37,500 and deposited the funds in his trust account, but over a two-month period he transferred almost all the money into his personal bank account. His law firm eventually paid the client what she was owed. In mitigation, Eggleston has no record of discipline since his 1982 admission to the bar. |
