July 23, 2016 JOSEPH JOHN SIGUENZA [#92327], 64, of Burlingame, was suspended from the practice of law for 30 days and ordered to take the MPRE. He was also placed on two years’ probation and faces a one-year suspension if he fails to comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. The order took effect July 23, 2016. Siguenza falsely testified under penalty of perjury he was in compliance with his MCLE requirements when he was not. He had, in fact, completed no MCLE during the compliance period. He completed the necessary hours after an MCLE audit and paid a $75 penalty.Siguenza had one prior record of discipline, a 2003 private reproval for engaging in the unauthorized practice of law while being suspended for failure to pay bar dues. In mitigation, he provided three character reference letters, one from an attorney and two from members from his community attesting to his good character. He also entered into a pretrial stipulation with the State Bar. |
