February 28, 2015 MICHAEL ANTONIO JOSEPH [#76924], 65, of Christiansted, Virgin Islands, was disbarred Feb. 28, 2015 and ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. Joseph was disbarred after his default was entered for failing to respond to a notice of disciplinary charges. Because he did not seek to have the default set aside within 180 days as required under rule 5.85 of the State Bar’s Rules of Procedure, he was disbarred and the charges against him deemed admitted. Joseph was found to have committed misconduct in the Virgin Islands, which led the State Bar to file disciplinary charges against him here. He failed to perform legal services with competence by not preparing for trial as ordered in one client matter, which led to the case being dismissed. He also failed to communicate by not responding to his clients’ status inquiries and did not cooperate in a disciplinary investigation. |
