Discipline Summaries

May 10, 2013

DON LEE SLAYTON [#75052], 72, of Woodland Hills was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with an actual 30-day suspension and until he pays restitution. Slayton was also ordered to take the MPRE. The order took effect May 10, 2013.

Slayton stipulated to entering a business agreement with a non-lawyer, allowing him to use his office to acquire clients under the guise of offering legal services. Slayton also shared legal fees with a non-lawyer and failed to keep a client reasonably informed of developments in his bankruptcy matter.

As part of the stipulation Slayton agreed to repay the client $5,000 in fees given to him to handle a loan modification matter.
