MITCHEL J. SCHAPIRA [#67427], 56, of Anchorage, Alaska was disbarred Dec. 28, 2006, and was ordered to comply with rule 955.

Schapira failed to comply with rule 955, as ordered in a 2005 discipline. He did not submit to the Supreme Court an affidavit stating that he notified his clients, opposing counsel and other interested parties of his suspension.

He was publicly reproved in 2000 for misconduct that occurred in Alaska and resulted in discipline there in 1994-95. He was then suspended and placed on probation for failing to meet the probation requirements of the reproval in 2003. Two years later, the probation was revoked for his failure to comply with its conditions.

Schapira has not paid bar dues in California since 1996 and has been ineligible to practice here since that time.

MITCHEL J. SCHAPIRA [#67427], 54, of Anchorage, Alaska Probation was revoked, the stay of suspension was lifted and he was actually suspended for one year and was ordered to comply with rule 955. The order took effect Sept. 22, 2005.

Schapira was suspended and placed on probation in 2003 for not complying with probation conditions attached to a 2000 public reproval. He failed to file three probation reports, filed three others late and did not complete six hours of MCLE courses.

The public reproval was imposed as the result of disciplinary action taken against Schapira in Alaska.

Schapira has not paid bar dues in California since 1996 and has been ineligible to practice here since that time.

August 1, 2003

MITCHELL J. SCHAPIRA [#67427], 52, of Anchorage, Alaska was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with an actual 30-day suspension and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect Aug. 1, 2003.

Schapira did not comply with probation conditions attached to a 2000 public reproval. He failed to submit written probation reports, report his change of address, take the MPRE or complete six hours of continuing education courses.

The reproval was imposed as the result of disciplinary action taken against Schapira in Alaska.

In mitigation, he had family problems at the time of the misconduct.
