June 22, 2005 RAUL VALADEZ AGUILAR [#56419], 64, of San Francisco was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with a 30-day actual suspension and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect June 22, 2005. Aguilar stipulated that he lied to the California Supreme Court in written and oral statements and he failed to maintain respect due to the courts.His problems were well-publicized when neither he nor anyone representing him appeared for a scheduled hearing before the court in 2004. The court held Aguilar and his former associate, Allen J. Kent, in contempt and referred the matter to the State Bar Court for investigation and the possible imposition of further discipline.Aguilar stipulated that when he said, in both written and oral statements, that he was unaware of the hearing, he lied. He also admitted that he intentionally failed to assign an attorney to appear at the hearing.In mitigation, Aguilar has no prior record of discipline and he cooperated with the bar’s investigation. |
