Discipline Summaries

November 7, 1996

CAREY FULTON SCOTT [#56080], 54, of Inglewood was disbarred Nov. 7, 1996, and ordered to comply with rule 955.

Scott violated an August 1995 order that he comply with rule 955 by notifying all clients and other pertinent parties of a suspension and submitting an affidavit to that effect to the Supreme Court.

The 1995 order was a probation revocation which resulted from his failure to comply with a 1994 disciplinary order.

That order arose in a default hearing in which the State Bar Court found that in a divorce case, Scott failed to communicate with his client for seven to eight months, return unearned fees, keep the client informed about the status of the case, perform legal services competently, return the file, or cooperate with the bar's investigation.

Scott was involuntarily enrolled inactive in 1995 and 1996.

The State Bar Court noted that Scott has not participated in any of the disciplinary hearings and "has displayed indifference to disciplinary orders of the Supreme Court."
