Discipline Summaries

June 12, 1998

ROBERT GEORGE MOORE [#45649], 61, of National City was suspended for 90 days, stayed, placed on one year of probation, and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect June 12, 1998.

Moore stipulated that in a conservatorship case, he failed to perform legal services competently and did not respond to his client's requests for information.

Three times the court ruled that a limited conservatorship was indicated and recommended that additional information be filed.

When Moore hired a paralegal to complete the remaining documents, the employee did not bring the documents to Moore's attention and they were misfiled. As a result, they were never signed by Moore or filed with the court and a conservator never was appointed.

Moore did not return his client's phone calls and then moved his office without notifying the client. When the client tracked him down at a new office, an employee told the client that Moore had never represented him.

Moore was publicly reproved in 1995 and also was disciplined in 1977.

In mitigation, during the time of the misconduct, Moore's father died and his mother became ill, necessitating many unscheduled trips out of the area. He apologized to the client and refunded $750 of the $900 fee.
