December 17, 2004 ROBERT SCOTT SCHURMER [#33642], 68, of Oxnard was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on three years of probation and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. The order took effect Dec. 17, 2004. Over a 19-month period, Schurmer allowed the balance in his client trust account to fall by as much as $26,000 below the amount he was required to maintain. He said the problem was the result of one errant check for $45,500 that should have been written against his general account.Schurmer was privately reproved in 2002 for failing to provide competent legal services.In mitigation, he demonstrated remorse, he had family problems at the time and no clients were harmed. |
