November 15, 2015 HAKOP A. KESHISHYAN [#265848], 35, of Glendale, was suspended from the practice of law for six months and ordered to take the MPRE and comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. He was also placed on two years’ probation and faces a two-year suspension if he does not comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. The order took effect Nov. 15, 2015. Keshishyan failed to deposit a client’s settlement funds into his client trust account but wrote a check to the client even though there were insufficient funds in the account. When a bank failed to honor the check, he wrote the client another check which ended up depleting funds belonging to another client.In addition, Keshishyan issued three checks drawn on his client trust account when there were insufficient funds to pay them, misappropriating $2,676.79 of three clients’ funds earmarked to pay a lienholder on their behalf.In mitigation, he showed remorse for his wrongdoing, made restitution and entered into a prefiling stipulation with the State Bar. |
