Discipline Summaries

February 6, 2016

KEITH ROBERT OLIVER [#257837], 51, of San Francisco, was disbarred Feb. 6, 2016 and ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court.

Oliver was disbarred after his default was entered for failing to respond to a notice of disciplinary charges. Because he did not seek to have the default set aside or vacated within 90 days as required under rule 5.85 of the State Bar’s Rules of Procedure, he was disbarred and the charges against him deemed admitted.

In one of the matters he was disciplined for, Oliver made a misrepresentation to U.S. Bankruptcy Court that he had received no compensation from a debtor, sought to mislead a judge, filed an incomplete bankruptcy petition and failed to comply with a scheduling order or file an opening brief on behalf of his client. He also improperly withdrew from employment and failed to respond to reasonable status inquiries or cooperate with the State Bar in a disciplinary investigation.

In another matter, he failed to appear at a case management conference and did not respond to a motion for judgment on the pleadings on behalf of his client. He also failed to inform the client he was withdrawing from employment and that the case was dismissed and did not respond to letters from State Bar investigators.

In addition, he failed to comply with sanctions orders issued by two courts and did not report the sanctions to the State Bar.
