May 28, 2015 ART HOOMIRATANA [#247253], 35, of Pasadena, was suspended from the practice of law for 60 days and ordered to take the MPRE and make restitution. He was also placed on one year of probation and faces a one-year suspension if he does not comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. The order took effect May 28, 2015. Hoomiratana was suspended as a result of misconduct in three matters. In one matter, he collected $15,000 in attorney fees for loan modification services before fully performing every service for which he was contracted. In another, he failed to account for $9,000 in legal fees a client paid him to pursue civil litigation against his lender.In the third matter, Hoomiratana failed to file a lawsuit against a client’s mortgage lender and did not refund $1,500 in unearned advanced fees until after the client complained to the State Bar.He was ordered to pay $7,500 plus interest in restitution. |
