Discipline Summaries

March 19, 2016

GILBERT ALVANDI [#236752], 39, of Irvine, was placed on two years’ probation and faces a one-year suspension if he does not comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. He was also ordered to take the MPRE. The order took effect March 19, 2016.

In March 2015, Alvandi pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and battery, both misdemeanors. He assaulted his live-in girlfriend, pulling her by the hair across the bedroom floor in their apartment. Though the girlfriend moved out after the incident, she returned to their apartment days later, an argument ensued and the woman locked herself in the bathroom, where she texted her cousin to call police. Alvandi berated arriving officers and refused to let them into the apartment. When they finally gained access to the apartment, they handcuffed and arrested him.

In mitigation, he had no prior record of discipline and entered into a pretrial stipulation with the State Bar.
