August 14, 2016 KEVIN RENARD TAYLOR [#218711], 43, of Beverly Hills, was suspended from the practice of law for 60 days and ordered to take the MPRE. He was also placed on two years’ probation and faces a one-year suspension if he fails to comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. The order took effect Aug. 14, 2016. Taylor failed to negotiate a settlement with his client’s insurance carrier or otherwise resolve his client’s personal injury claim and withdrew from employment without taking steps to avoid prejudice to the client. He also did not respond to numerous phone calls from the client, deposit settlement funds belonging to the client in his trust account or promptly pay the money to his client.Taylor’s delay and failure to perform resulted in his client being unable to pursue his personal injury claim because the statute of limitations had expired. Other mitigating factors include Taylor’s single prior record of discipline and his multiple acts of misconduct. In mitigation, he was suffering from extreme emotional problems at the time of his misconduct and entered into a prefiling stipulation with the State Bar.July 19, 2015 KEVIN RENARD TAYLOR [#218711], 42, of Beverly Hills, was suspended from the practice of law for 30 days and ordered to take the MPRE.
