Discipline Summaries

March 12, 2015

LISA BOEGLER NEVAREZ [#206226], 45, of Cypress, was disbarred March 12, 2015 and ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. Nevarez stipulated that she failed to file an affidavit by deadline confirming she had complied with rule 9.20 as required as the result of her 2014 suspension. In mitigation, she entered into a pretrial stipulation with the State Bar. Nevarez had two prior records of discipline. In 2013, she was suspended following convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or more. In 2014, she was suspended for violating her criminal probation and failing to disclose the revocation of her criminal probation to the State Bar or undergo monthly drug and alcohol testing in June, July and August 2013.

February 13, 2014

LISA BOEGLER NEVAREZ [#206226], 44, of Cypress was suspended for one year, stayed and placed on three years’ probation with an actual one-year suspension. She was also ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court and submit to drug and alcohol testing. The order took effect Feb. 13, 2014.

Nevarez’s suspension resulted from her probation being revoked for five separate violations of her disciplinary probation. Among other missteps, Nevarez violated the criminal-probation-compliance condition of her State Bar disciplinary probation when she violated her criminal probation by driving under the influence and failed repeatedly to undergo monthly drug and alcohol testing at a State Bar-approved laboratory.

Nevarez was convicted in 2007 and 2012 of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or more. The 2012 conviction was her third DUI. Nevarez then violated her criminal probation by driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in early February 2013 and, as a result, the superior court revoked her five-year criminal probation.

January 9, 2013

LISA BOEGLER NEVAREZ [#206226], 43, of Cypress was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on three years of probation with an actual 30-day suspension and she was ordered to take the MPRE. The order took effect Jan. 9, 2013.

Nevarez was convicted in 2007 and 2012 of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or more. The 2012 conviction was her third DUI. (She also was convicted of DUI in 2002.) Both convictions did not involve moral turpitude but involved misconduct warranting discipline.

The first incident occurred in Garden Grove, when Nevarez rear-ended a stopped car. Police could smell alcohol on her and found a half-full bottle of vodka in her car. Nevarez also admitted taking two Vicocins and two shots of vodka. Her blood alcohol content was .27 percent.

Nevarez’ blood alcohol level was .14 percent when she was arrested in 2011 for totaling another driver’s car in Orange County.

In mitigation, she cooperated with the bar’s investigation.
