October 15, 2016 THOMAS PAUL FRIEDMAN [#205407], 44, of Pasadena, was disbarred Oct. 15, 2016 and ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. Friedman failed to respond to a notice of disciplinary charges filed by the State Bar and his default was entered. The bar moved to disbar him under rule 5.85 of the Rules of Procedure because he made no move to set aside the default within 90 days. The charges were deemed admitted. Friedman failed to provide an appropriate accounting to a client of $3,500 in advanced legal fees despite two requests and failed to promptly return those fees despite doing nothing to earn them. In addition, he failed to cooperate with a disciplinary investigation by not providing a substantive response to numerous emails and letters from the State Bar. |
