Discipline Summaries

March 3, 2006

WILLIAM JARBLUM [#190424], 60, of Beverly Hills was suspended for three years, stayed, placed on three years of probation with a two-year actual suspension and was ordered to make restitution, prove his rehabilitation, take the MPRE and comply with rule 955. The order took effect March 3, 2006.

As corporate counsel and escrow agent for a company, Jarblum received $1.999 million from investors by wire transfer in 2002. He remitted $1.2 million to the company, but when the investors asked him to release the remainder of the money, he asked to keep $100,000 “as I work out some issues here.”

Jarblum either transferred the funds to his personal account or used the money for his own benefit. The company sued him and won a judgment of $150,000, of which Jarblum repaid $50,000.

He stipulated that he failed to promptly deliver client funds or maintain client funds in a trust account.

At the time, he was going through an acrimonious divorce, his mother and sister died and he had serious financial problems. He has no record of discipline in 34 years of practice.
