Discipline Summaries

May 10, 2013

CHARLES DAVID TREJO [#187529], 52, of Los Angeles was disbarred May 10, 2013, and was ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court.

Trejo stipulated that he violated the terms of his disciplinary probation by submitting one incomplete quarterly report to probation and failing to submit two others.

In the underlying case, Trejo was suspended for two years, stayed, and was placed on probation for two years with an actual 45-day suspension in 2010 after stipulating that he had failed to perform legal services competently or keep a client informed and that he violated a court order to pay sanctions and misled his client in a business partnership dissolution. Trejo was also disciplined on two other occasions after that for violating the terms of his probation.

August 9, 2012

The probation of CHARLES DAVID TREJO, 51, of Los Angeles was revoked and he was actually suspended for two years and until he makes restitution, attends ethics school and proves his rehabilitation. He also was ordered to take the MPRE and comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. The order took effect Aug. 9, 2012.

Trejo violated three conditions of a 2011 probation by not meeting with the State Bar probation office, not taking the MPRE and not attending ethics school.

He was disciplined in 2010 after stipulating to four counts of misconduct in a single client matter: he failed to perform legal services competently, communicate with a client or pay a sanction order and he made false statements to a client to conceal the dismissal of the client’s lawsuit.

He was disciplined again in 2011 for failing to comply with probation conditions attached to the first order. He did not submit two quarterly reports on time, pay any restitution, take the MPRE, attend ethics school, complete any of the required six hours of Minimum Continuing Legal Education courses, develop an approved law-office-management plan on time or join the bar’s Law Practice Management and Technology Section and provide proof that he had done so on time.

January 11, 2012

CHARLES DAVID TREJO [#187529], 51, of Los Angeles was suspended for two years, stayed, and was placed on two years of probation with a 60-day actual suspension. The order took effect Jan. 11, 2012.

Trejo did not comply with probation conditions of a 2010 disciplinary order. He failed to make restitution, take the MPRE, attend ethics school, develop an acceptable law office management plan on time, or take continuing education courses addressing law office management. He also submitted two quarterly probation reports late.

The underlying discipline was imposed after Trejo stipulated to failing to perform legal services competently or keep a client informed and he violated a court order to pay sanctions and misled his client in a business partnership dissolution.

In mitigation, he cooperated with the bar’s investigation and he had financial problems that contributed to the violations of his probation.

February 11, 2010

CHARLES DAVID TREJO [#187529], 49, of Los Angeles was suspended for two years, stayed, placed on probation for two years with an actual suspension of 45 days and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year of the Feb. 11, 2010, effective date of the order.

Trejo stipulated to failing to perform legal services competently or keep a client informed and he violated a court order to pay sanctions and misled his client in a business partnership dissolution.
