August 17, 2002 RICHARD J. SULLIVAN [#169297], 46, of Los Angeles was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with a 120-day actual suspension and until he makes restitution, and he was ordered to take the MPRE and comply with rule 955. If the actual suspension exceeds two years, he must prove his rehabilitation. The order took effect Aug. 17, 2002. Sullivan stipulated that in a contingency fee case, he failed to promptly pay his client's former attorney and all but one of her medical providers the settlement funds to which they were entitled, failed to properly maintain his client's funds, and misappropriated client funds, an act of moral turpitude. In mitigation, he has no record of discipline and he cooperated with the bar's investigation. |
