CELESTE EASTON [#156380], 54, of Los Angeles was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation with an actual 30-day suspension and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year. Credit will be given for an interim suspension that began July 18, 2002. The order took effect Jan. 11, 2003.

Easton pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor grand theft of personal property, a crime involving moral turpitude, after shoplifting merchandise from Nordstrom's.

In mitigation, Easton was under stress as a result of her separation and divorce from her husband of 20 years. She is in counseling, and the counselor said the shoplifting incident was likely the result of her emotional stress. She has no record of discipline.
