December 25, 2014 ROBERT S. TABACHNICK [#147646], 61, of Beverly Hills, was disbarred Dec. 25, 2014 and ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. Tabachnick was disbarred after his default was entered for failing to participate in two disciplinary proceedings. Because he did not seek to have the defaults set aside within 180 days as required under rule 5.85 of the State Bar’s Rules of Procedure, he was disbarred and the charges against him were deemed admitted. One of the matters stemmed from Tabachnick’s conviction for possession of child pornography. At the time, Tabachnick lived with his elderly mother who relied on round-the-clock assistance from live-in female caretakers. Tabachnick installed a camera in a heater vent in the bathroom the caregivers used in order to record them. On Oct. 18, 2011, one of the caregivers discovered the hidden camera and reported it to police. Police collected the camera and two of Tabachnick’s computers. On one of the computers taken from the residence, a forensic specialist found, among other things, hundreds of videos and images depicting child sexual exploitation, as well as images of the caregivers’ breasts and buttocks. There were also files showing children engaged in explicit acts. Tabachnick then violated a court order by not complying with rule 9.20 when he was placed on interim suspension following his conviction. February 8, 2013 ROBERT S. TABACHNICK [#147646], 59, of Beverly Hills was placed on interim suspension Feb. 8, 2013, following a conviction for possession of child pornography. He was ordered to comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. |
