September 14, 2000 TERRY WAYNE DENNIS [#146506], 38, of Artesia was disbarred Sept. 14, 2000, and was ordered to comply with rule 955. Dennis did not comply with rule 955, as ordered in a 1998 discipline. In a default case, he was found to have mishandled his client trust account and he did not promptly pay out client funds.Dennis’s default also was entered in the disbarment proceeding. Failure to comply with rule 955 is grounds for disbarment.June 12, 1998 TERRY WAYNE DENNIS [#146506], 36, of Artesia was suspended for two years, stayed, and placed on two years of probation with an actual 90-day suspension and until he makes restitution. If the actual suspension exceeds two years, he must prove rehabilitation. He also was ordered to take the MPRE and comply with rule 955. The order took effect June 12, 1998. In a default matter, the State Bar Court found that Dennis commingled personal and client funds in his client trust account. In a personal injury case, he did not pay his clients' doctor after the case settled, although he did pay the clients their share of the settlement funds.Dennis did not cooperate with the bar's investigation of either matter. |
