December 17, 2015 MICHAEL ROBERT MCCABE [#137844], 53, of El Cajon, was suspended from the practice of law for 90 days and ordered to take the MPRE, make restitution and comply with rule 9.20 of the California Rules of Court. He was also placed on two years’ probation and faces a one-year suspension if he does not comply with the terms of his disciplinary probation. The order took effect Dec. 17, 2015. Between Jan. 6 and April 28, 2014, McCabe engaged in the unauthorized practice of law in three separate client matters. At the time, he was suspended for non-payment of child support. He also collected a fee of $2,000 from a client when he was not an active member of the State Bar.He was ordered to pay $2,000 plus interest in restitution. In mitigation, he had no prior record of discipline and entered into a pretrial stipulation with the State Bar. |
